Captivating Controversy: Explore the Daring Artistry of Damien Hirst’s ‘For the Love of God’ Print at BHP Collectibles!

At BHP Collectibles art gallery we have an eye-catching Damien Hirst piece that’s on display / available! Hirst has risen to fame and become a household name within the art community. With a talent for breaking conventional boundaries within the art world. Hirst’s work often explores themes of religion, mortality, and desire within his astonishing creations.

Right in the window on display in our gallery we have a Limited-Edition ‘For the Love of God’ print, created and hand signed in 2007.

The original installation was made up of a real 18th-century human skull which Hirst studded with 8601 diamonds. Hence, the nickname ‘Diamond Skull’.

Hirst is known as one of the most notorious artists of his generation and doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down. As recently as last August he curated a stunt in which he sold his 2016 Pointillism collection. But there was a catch, this artwork had an ultimatum.

Hirst forced his audience to choose between the physical and the digital (NFTs) for each of the 10,000 pieces in his pointillism collection. His buyers had a choice, choose the original artwork, and see the NFT disappear forever, or choose the NFT and watch the artwork burn.

Personally, I thought people would be more interested in keeping the physical, but I am surprised to see that his buyers are more drawn to the NFT all the while watching the originals be set alight. I could dive into the depths and symbolism of what this says about society but at the end of the day as the Guardian says – “people just want to watch the world burn”.
